SoCal Ecoboost Tunes/ Discussion & Review TEMPORARILY CLOSED- SEE MY REPLY.
Where did u hear or see that ? It all depends on the dealer if the warranty is void. If u deal with a pro tuning dealer u shouldn't have an issue. Some dealers look for anyway to void warranty. Return to stock and reset the battery tell them u had VIP auto plug in diagnostics and that's it. They can't see what u did as far as tuning etc..they can only see the ecm has been accessed by foreign object.
Its written in black and white as plain as day in Fords warranty policy. Now they have to prove that the tune caused the problem, but in the mean time, you either pay or be without your truck for the months or years it takes to litigate in court. Different dealers will say different things but FordMoCo has to approve warranty work as they are the ones reimbursing the dealer... you may have a dealer willing to doop Ford but if Ford were to find out they wouldn't be a dealer much longer.
Just recently I had both of my turbos replaced because I'm sure of my driving habits, but anyways I returned everything to stock and unhooked the battery for 30 min and took it in. I was worried at first but they said they had to dig into the computer to find the code I was talking about and they didn't find anything. The other day I went in there for same code and get oil changed, this time I pulled the service manager aside and told him I've been tuned since 200 miles, he said he didn't give a **** and would do whatever to make sure it's not a problem in the future. He also said I can't believe we didn't see that you had it tuned when u had it in here before, I told him what I did and I also run torque app all the time. So it works and now I'm a firm believer on the dealership not noticing, but that's not to say a ford engineer can't come down and find it. Most of these custom tunes are data logged by numerous customers and are safe to run, some of them not so much. SoCal tunes are data logged to the extreme by most of us and Shawn's (SoCal) mission is to have a safe tune.
And they can see more than that... they can see boost spikes, brake boosting, and many other abnormal conditions even after a flash to stock and battery disconnect... many people have found this out the hard way and 2 guys that I went to automotive school with in 2002 now work for Ford and assured me... they can see it. I think you and I have had this conversation already... and if you haven't plugged in using the dealers equipment to see exactly what they see, you shouldn't pass false information or information that you dont know to be 100% true.
Right... but that's the issue.... it does have a limited memory, but what about when you engine locks up and you can't drive it to overwrite the data... look I'm not saying "if you're tuned your screwed" what I'm saying is "prepare for the worst, if you expect a voided warranty and get it fixed for free then great, but don't expect warranty work and get screwed"

Yeah it came up again 2 weeks ago with the new turbos, no I don't think they are going out, I think I've got a air leak somewhere because I've still got the chirping noise under the hood. I told them to just forget about it because I'm getting ready to trade anyways. It happened while I had the cruise set at 80 this time, I just reset the code on my toque app and stick it in neutral, shut it off and turned it back on, and then it was fine and haven't had the issue again. Who knows????
