Aux???? where is it
I have a 06 Lariat, with the 6 disk CD player w/ sub and on the front of the head unit, it has an aux. button. I thought..sweet, so I took out the unit thinking there should be a plug of some sort to hook up to the aux. and there was nothing!!! WHY IS THIS. Why would they put the option in and not have a hook up?
07 was the first year they had an port on top of the dash tray for an ipod/mp3 player. the aux is there so you get an adapter to use an ipod, if your deck didn't have the aux, you could not add the adapter.

You mention that the adapter will allow you to switch to it using the AUX function. Is this on truck WITHOUT sirius or will the AUX button now switch from sat1, sat2, sat3 and now the ipod adapter?

You want the FRD04-AUX made by P.I.E. (sold all over the net or locally through Car Toys for a premium). It plugs into the back of the head unit and provides you with a gain control and a set of standard RCA inputs that you can plug any other adapter you want into. I have the same 6-disc in my 05 FX4 and I used this to install my Parrot MKi9100. Works great and provides crystal clear sound without ground loop hum or other interference. You plug it into the head unit, splice the power line into the 12v power feed to your stereo and you're good to go using the AUX button.
EDIT: PS - the Parrot system is a sweet option to look at btw. Provides you with wired adapters to connect to play music from an iPod, USB storage device or any line-out headphone jack as well as providing handsfree Bluetooth for your phone or playing music from any Bluetooth stereo device. I have my wired connectors ran into my center console and just leave a 32G usb thumbdrive hooked up with my music.
