Default Testing ignition

My 96f150 won't start I'm pretty positive it's the ignition, how do I test it without completely taking it out?

Remove a spark plug and ground it to the engine block with the plug wire connected to the spark plug. Have an assistant crank the engine and if there is no spark check the coil voltage. There a several other checks that need to be eliminated one by one. Or take it to a reputable shop for further diagnosis and repair.
