Default Steering Gear Removal

1995 F150 XLT. Steering gear drinks more than I do. Got a newish steering gear and can't get the pitman arm off the splines. So I decided to replace everything from the outer tie rod up to the universal joint since I already had the new gear.

Now to my question, I can't get the steering shaft off the gear. I've used PB blaster. Propane and map gas. Hammers, wrenches, crow bars basically anything to get leverage.

Any advice would be welcome.

Go to an auto parts store and borrow a pitman arm puller. I don't think they would cost much at a Harbor Freight either.

I borrowed one before I started disassembling. The puller got stuck on the pitman arm and won't loosen. And to make things worse, the hex head is rounded (my fault) and not even vice grips can turn it.
