Default Replacing stock mirrors

I have a 96 f150 xl. It has those plain black folding mirrors which I want to replace with the chrome towing mirrors. The only problem is the holes for the stock mirrors are wider than the new ones. How can I put the new ones on without screwing up the door?

I've got the same style mirrors except Chrome on my '94. I wanted the chrome towing mirrors as well so I looked into it. From what I've read if that's the case you're going to have to drill new holes and fill in the old ones. Or search for doors with them already mounted. I'm sure someone else who has actually done it can chime in. Good luck!

I think what youll want to do is make up a plate - black plastic or chrome or such to cover the old boltholes and bolt the new mirror through it with nuts on the inside
