Default What is this?

Hey guys, I just recently joined the forum. I haven't posted before but have looked to this site for information in the past. I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to, partly because I don't know what the "part" is called. I've attached a picture with hope that you guys would be able to help me out. I have a 1992 F150 super cab 4x4 , 4.9l straight six with the Mazda 5speed..... So what is this and what is its function?

Not sure what this is.

Looks like the ground to cut out radio interference. Same harness as the plug in for the coil ?

Yes Chris_1 it's a two pin harness plugged into the ignition coil with a yellow wire and a Red, the red goes to the small round cylinder looking piece pictured above.

Chris is right, it cuts out feedback produced by the ignition coil that sends static to the radio, nothing majorly important if you don't mind fuzzy radio channels. With a newer HU you probably don't even need it as they mostly have built in feedback dampeners.

There should be a way to bolt it to ground right on the bracket that holds the coil.

I'll take a look, if not I believe I found a bracket online for a few dollars. Thanks
