TPS need help!
I have a 1994 f150 5.0 302 and I just replaced the throttle position sensor but now I start it and it runs for about 3 seconds then the rpms go so low that it dies. Is there any way I can adjust it? Should I also test the voltage first? And before I go doing anything, do I need to recalibrate the computer or something because i ve only started 2 times and let it try to idle. Any help would be great. I also replaced the IAC valve a while back and I didn't have any trouble with that
First of all TPS is a motorcraft only part, if you didn't get a motorcraft brand take it back, you will have nothing but problems with it.
Make sure the wires are oriented the same way as the one you took off, test should read .9-.97v closed throttle, 5v WOT, smooth increase as you open it up. You can loosen the two screws and rotate it a little in each direction and that will affect the voltage reading.
You should also pull your codes.
No, you don't need to reset anything, did mine last week (engine surging, throwing a 123-TPS voltage code) and I just pulled the TB, took the TPS off and swapped in the new one, bolted everything back up and was back to work in under an hour.
