Default Running 2 batteries query

Hello!

With summer finally approaching I need to get moving on some additions to the wagon for camping, fishing, road tripping etc around beautiful British Colombia.

I have an inflatable zodiac and small 12v trolling motor. I have a box for them and will be fixing that in the truck bed once the weather improves a little, I have a second 12v battery for the boat and want to build a box/charging station into the setup in the back of the truck.

What I'm planning is to simply wire from the current battery + to a second battery box in the bed, and a ground to the bed, run the two batteries in parallel while driving, giving the second battery a charge so it's ready whenever I hit the lake.

In theory this makes sense to me but I'm wondering will my 1991 351w be as exited as I am at the prospect of it?

Anyone with knowledge or experience your help would be greatly appreciated!

Andy

Should be fine. You want to maybe put a constant run solenoid (looks like the one on your fender, but designed for what you're planning) to split the positive wire, with an on/off switch on the dash.
