1996F-150!

I have a 1996 Ford F-150 XLT 5.8l with and Auto trans. When I start my truck it flashes, after a while of driving it goes away, then it starts again. It continues to flash for a while then shuts off again. Sometimes it will die and it will give me a real hard time staying back up. I'm guessing that's the fuel filter, but the overdrive light continues to flash. It shifts fine through all the gears. Any ideas?

I think that usually indicates a problem in the transmission like too much heat or not enough pressure.
A filter and fluid change as well as blowing out the lines and the tranny cooler (or installing a cooler) might help.
