Default Instrument panel quit working

We have a 96 F150 (302) we removed the instrument panel to put in led lights. Reinstall panel and now no gauges work. Panel worked just fine prior to this. Checked all fuses. All ok
Thanks for any help

there are several "plugs" that look like ribbon cable, that often fail to make proper contact.

You may have also disrupted things with the LEDs they often draw more power than what is available to the instrument panel.

I would put the old lamps back in, and see if the panel is still good...then try one or two LEDs and see if it works and so on.

You can check a couple of spots on the panel for 12vDC and appropriate ground with a volt-ohm-meter. You have to have both for things to work.

We put old bulbs back in. Still not working. We have power to panel. Get gauges to work by grounding signal wire.
This just isn't making sense.

I believe there is a current limiting diode/device on the panel that has likely blown. But you would need a wiring diagram or access to ShopKey to identify it, unless one of the other guys knows the '96 better than me.
