Distributor Pick Up

Hi I was just wondering how to test the pick up inside the distributor?

The rotor? Do a visual to make sure it isn't corroded or damaged and do a spark test for each post to make sure a good strong spark is getting to all of them.

If you are talking about the PIP sensor, it explains it in the Haynes book in the ignition section (chapter 5, page 8 in my book). If you don't have a book, you might want to get one.
