Code 14 Problem
Hey Guys,
I have a '88 4.9L six cylinder 150 that I've had for nearly 20 years. No issues until recently it started stalling and idling funny randomly. I swapped out the IAC, PCV valve, O2 sensor, new plugs and rotor, however problem got worse. I took it into a well respected repair shop nearby and they diagnosed that the PIP sensor on the distributor was the problem. They replaced the distributor now 3 times, they said they were getting bad parts from their supplier. Finally they got another new distributor today direct from their source vs. from the warehouse and the same things are happening. Truck runs fine, then it idles rough and stalls, won't restart for a few minutes then fires up again, still throws error code 14 on the KOEO test. It's possible they are getting a bad batch of parts (distributors), they said they've performed all the other diagnostics and everything else is fine. Have any of you had this issue or something similar? Just trying to see if there's something we're missing...I want my truck reliable again. Thanks.
