Angry smoke through vents

87 F150 When I move thermostat lever to red, smoke comes out vents. Once I turn it back to blue side, it stops. Kind of has an electrical smell which is what has me puzzled. Didn't want to leave it on red side too long for fear of fire. Help!

Check the blower motor and inspect any wiring under the dash and under the hood near tho blower that may be smoking.

"kind of an electrical smell"??? are you sure it isn't the heater core?
At a minimum I would remove the glove box and the access plate to inspect the inside of the heater box and core - it will take less than 30 minutes!

I'm having the same problem in my truck, was it the heater core for sure?
