Default Removing broken screw

I have a 1988 f150, and when I bought it the passenger side window crank was missing. I recently decided to get a new one and the screw that holds it is broken off completely flush. Does anybody know how to get the screw out so that I can put a new crank on?

you can go out and buy an extractor set, or spend 30 bucks and get a whole new window regulator on rockauto.com. your choice but a good extractor set will run you a few hundred bucks.

With an 88 there are probably several frozen screws, so depending how much work you intend to do, the extractor may be worth it. If you want to use the extractor, start by hitting the old screw with some penetrating oil. Then, with a decent drill and a steady hand, you can drill a pilot hole in the center of the screw. Even better is to use a punch to start your hole, then drill it. Then use an extractor, which is essentially a narrow cone with reverse threads, to back the screw out - you fit the extractor into your drill like any drill bit, set the drill to reverse, and go.
