Default Interior Lights Question

Hi all. I have a 1990 F150 and have a question pertaining to interior lights. The lights in question are the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, auto lock buttons on the doors and windows up and down lights, again on the doors. When driving at night with lights on everything seems to be illuminated as it should be with the exception of the lights listed above. Are these lights suppose to be illuminated on a 90 f150?

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read this post and perhaps responding.

Those were not required by law to be illuminated in '87, as they are now. So they weren't. The easiest way to light them would be a few VERY-dim focused LEDs on the ceiling trim aimed down at those areas. I know a 2007 Maxima has such a thing in the overhead console to light the shifter area. So it shouldn't be too difficult to add a couple in your truck, if you can make them dim enough not to distract you.

It's not horribly-difficult to swap in a later illuminated steering wheel in '92-up trucks, but I wouldn't try it in an older one.
