Default Interior Door Handle Help!

On my 1989 the passenger interior door handle is touching the door panel. I cannot grab the top of the handle to open the door, I'm having to grab from the bottom an pull up. How can I fix this? Just order a new door handle. Or should I pull on this one an try an bend it out? Please help.

Take your door panel off and see why. The mounting bracket or the door itself could be bent or broken. Reefing on the handle you're likely to just break the handle off.
Then you'd have to put your window down and reach outside to open your door. Hard to look cool doing that.

Common issue as the mounting point for the door handle is a thin piece of metal with no real support. Over time as the wire and latching mech get gummed up people pull the handle harder and harder bending and usually cracking the mount. Once you get it fixed, may require tacking some support inside the frame, use some PB Blaster to loosen up the moving parts of the latching mechanism, then hit them and the wire (where it goes into the sheath from the handle) with some WD40 to keep moisture out. After a few uses hit the latching mech and pull wire with some white lithium grease to keep it lubed for the next few years.

The brackets always break. I had mine welded back on.
