Strait piping/ loud exhaust?!
I'm trying to make my truck as loud as possible it's a 93 f150 with a 302 V8. It has a true duel exhaust and I think it has a flow master set up right now. I'm wondering if I cut the cats off and strait pipe it to glass packs if it would be louder? Any ideas/pics?

As far as making the truck as loud as possible, laws are in place to stop this from happening.

You want loud?
1Remove muffler.
2Remove cats.
3Remove down pipes.
4Remove manifolds.
Now you got loud.

I've got a '92 single cab with a 302. Its Y-piped from the headers into single 2.5" exhaust pipe with a stainless 4-inch tip at 45° behind the rear tire. It has no cats or muffler. It isn't all that loud and actually sounds really good for straight pipe. I was surprised. It doesn't have any poping or annoying tones. Just a nice deep rumble at idle. You can go out and stand by the exhaust and still have a conversation with someone. Yes, it will wake up the neighbors in the cold silent mornings. Lol. But it still sounds really good. Its only loud when you really get on the throttle, But that's a given...

a down pipe is a tuner part, most jap cars have a manifold that bolts to a down pipe(contains the cat) then it bolts to the exhaust pipe.
NO ONE in the real world calls them down pipes on our vehicles. it is all just part of the exhaust because our exhaust has header collectors that bolt to the manifold, and the rest of the exhaust is welded to the collector.
