Default Removing spotlight add-on

My 1988 xlt lariat 4x4 has this spotlight on it that doesn't work. Also, I don't fancy the look of it and I don't need it. Removing it will leave big holes everywhere. As far as the exterior, would I be better off patching holes or should I replace the whole cowl instead?

The cowl doesn't look that easy to remove to me but I imagine either way I go that bridge will have to be crossed so I'm thinking I should just find another one. What do you guys that actually have skills and experience think?

Well that's easier to fix than if it was on the door pillar. It's not hard to replace the cowl and if you can find one the same color I'd say go that way. The light itself is easy to take off. Take that screw out and the light and swivel should pull off the shaft and you can pull the rest of it out through the inside.

You could probably fab up a cover plate for that, paint it, and mount it up to cover the hole. Some people would kill to have those lights on their truck. Maybe you could try getting them working and see if you like them?

That would work also. They do come in handy and they're not really complicated. I had one on my bronco.

Hmm, that is a thought. Get it working and then think about if I really want it off.
