Hi everyone,
The previous owner installed a new hood and didn't transfer the hood strike hardware or lost it.
I couldn't find anything specific in the manual or online.
So I went to a local Junkyard and all I could find on common year F150s was this flat springy metal piece (photo).
I Installed it and it sort of catches on the hood, but I think it only provides pressure for the hood to come up easily.
It doesn't really catch it securely.
Am I missing something?
I would to see how your 94 hood latches.
Thank you in advance, Pat
Yes, that's just the de-latching spring, and you have it installed correctly. But it might need adjustment later. It needs to be directly on top of the latch, where you see the wear marks in your pic. If it's too far forward, it can slip off & jam the hood.
The latch actually catches on the edge of the hole in the hood; the safety latch catches the other side of the hole.
Thanks Steve,
I like how you always reply with accurate drawings. It's very helpful.
Looking at the drawing "hoodlatch8086.jpg" it looks like I am missing part
#16892 (safety catch assembly).
It's hard to tell.
Since your truck isn't an '80-86, that one isn't 100% applicable to your truck. I only posted it for the parts that aren't shown in the first one, which is for your truck. It has the safety catch on the latch; not separate, on the hood.
