hood latch underneath hood 1992 ford f150
looking for latch underneath hood 1992 ford f-150 does anybody know what it is called? and where can i find it i can not latch my hood shut

Your pic shows the hood STRIKE - the area that the latch grabs. The part held on by the bolt (the one inside the hood) is the spring that initially raises the hood when it's unlatched.
The latch is the mechanism mounted to the top of the core support. Click this & read the caption:

If the hood doesn't catch on the latch, the latch is probably already latched closed (very common when the hood or latch becomes misaligned) or it's stuck from lack of maintenance (you have to clean & lube it occasionally). While an assistant pulls the release handle, lift the latch pawl on the driver's side of the latch assembly.

there should be a spring there i think that's why i have a cable to lock down the hood that gray metal piece looks broken that has the screw
