Default Electric fan thoughts?

Any body have any input on electric fans? Do they really add hp, tq and mpgs? How reliable are they?

my 300 had a little bit more seat of the pants snap to it when I put mine in,

and anything you can take off the engine that creates resistance is going to let more power out.

they dont really add HP they just free it up from the engine. turning the clutch fan and fan causes some loss of HP. Its well worth it considering it keeps the engine cooler with less power loss. and you can wire it up so it kicks on and off with a temp gauge. up in the north its a good thing for Winter time.

you might see a 2-5hp increase, just enough to have a bit more pep.

Same with removing the smog/ air pump or Ac system from the belt system it frees up horse power.

It still creates drag on the belt system it might not free up a whole lot but it helps as far as the belt drive goes.

Electric fans provide more efficient cooling in high temperatures because they don't rely on engine speed for fan speed, and will cool effectively when idling in gear, at a stop light for example. As far a hp/tq gains, I have no answer. I don't know how you could determine that, and any number without research would just be an arbitrary number.

I will say this:

Unless you are willing ( and able) to invest a significant amount of money for the right high-quality components, and exemplary installation practices, don't even consider it.

As, the "rolling science experiment" that is a cheap-*** overrated fleabay efan and cheap-*** relay controller lashup, hooked together with zip cord, twist-ties and scotch tape, WILL be unreliable, will underperform, and fail you one day. Not attributes one would desire for yer vehicle cooling system. And the money you THINK you so cleverly 'saved' will turn around and bite you in the butt.

My current recommendation: Motorcraft RF-269 efans (2010+ F150 OEM), and a DCC FK75 constant temperature variable speed, soft-start controller. Nothing less if you value true "all-conditions" cooling performance and reliability.

Good luck.
