Default Air deflector question

I just put a new stock bumper from LMC on my truck. I am debating about the air deflector. Does that deflector serve any real purpose besides style and deflect air or rocks or something? With rivets its about another $40 or so. I looked on the sticky about showing your 7/8/9 generation trucks, and in the first 25 pages its almost 50/50. Just looking for opinions.

It was there for style and to spoil the air up front a bit. I took mine off because i think it looks better that way. and gives me more clearance up front if i ever need it. it also hides the rubber mat under there to protect the engine bay from rocks. and other stuff.

As for performance or protection not really sure

Not really a performance part and the protection aspect of it is shoddy. I took mine off cause it's worthless.

I like mine. I've had it off and it just didn't look complete. I do use it like a curb feeler from time to time when pulling up to some curbs in parking spaces. I got the front cross member up on a curb really good one day after removing it and like to have never got it off. I put on a pretty good show during a reverse burn out. The plastic is very durable and will stand up to pushing over brush and very small trees as well as using it for a curb feeler.

I always had one until I changed the bumper. My old one broke on the drivers corner and kind of hung crooked. I think it looks good without but it also looks like its missing something. I think I'll get one later on. Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, my bank parking lot is ridiculous. I pulled up to the curb and when I finally got loose from it, I had pulled the curb away from the actual sidewalk. Lol.....oops, Wait, that wasn't me. I have no idea who tore up that curb!
