Default Vibrations

Have a1995 f150 inline 6 300ci and I recently replaced my air filter and spark plugs, it now has a bad vibration/wobble shake inbetween 25-55 mph it only does it when I accelerate slowly and I think it is the u-joint and I do a lot of highway driving please help

Change all u-joints and drive shaft center support.
Nothing expensive.

I am having the same problem. It usually will start in 3rd gear when I am cruising at about 35-40. When it happens at those low speeds it vibrates kinda bad. If I am accelerating it stops doing it. It also stops when I let off the gas. Anytime I get to a steady cruising speed it does it. The higher the speed (60+) it does it but it isnt bad, its a little vibration but you can hear it. Other than that it seems to drive and shift fine. Could it be a solenoid going bad? I had read somewhere that ford recalled a solenoid in the automatic trans for some reason. I also checked the drive shaft and it has no play at all.

I know it's in the transmission because if I have overdrive on it will shake at cruising speed but if you turn overdrive off it won't do it idk if yours is the same way

That's your torque converter going out in your transmission the vibrations will get worse until even overdrive doesn't stop it then your transmission will go out. Just happened to mine is past weekend.

It's very easy for some of us to spend your money, well you know the previous owner didn't take care of it, so the dimes on you. Of course you need to address your vibration first, most tranny shops give free estimates so that would be a starting point. I would at a minimum replace the thermostat and inspect all the belts and hose while you're replacing your water pump. This is a very good forum but you will get some suggestions that you need to review before you spend your money.

One thing I just thought of is between 25-55 mph your driveshaft is under load and if the u-joints were bad you probably would not feel anything until you level out your speed or deaccelerate.

Sounds like it could possibly be the u joints... I've heard of similar problems from seperated tires as well... Hopefully it's not the tranny..
