Default Transmission problems, need info on compatibility

So the 89 F150 has been slipping. Actually it doesn't even catch 4th gear. I've been trying to get it rebuilt but everyone wants to charge me an arm and a leg.... Around $3000. So I want to see what trannys are compatible with the 5.0 Windsor engine and where I can find a affordable transmission in south Texas.

Your options are probably limited to an AOD (what you have now) or a C6 (no overdrive but beefier).

3K is a little steep but it is a big job. Might want to try swapping in one from a local yard first - probably cost you $300-500 + the labor/time to swap it out.

What vehicles come with the C6?

Lots of Broncos and F series trucks from your generation had them.

Check out car-part.com - punch in your location and search for transmissions in your area.
