Default Transmission help

Hello everyone. I have a 90 f150 with the inline 6. It is a 5 speed manual but I'm not sure which trans is in it. I was driving down the road and something popped and I lost all gears. Truck will start but makes noise with clutch out. Pressing the clutch in the noise goes away and I can put it into every gear except 4th. It goes into gears with clutch pushed in and when it's out. But if I hold clutch in and try and hold down on 4th gear and let out it tried to go. Do I need a new trans?

You clearly need to have it towed to a repair shop (if not a specialist in manual transmissions). You should put ALL the truck's details & history (as much as you know) into your signature so it shows with each post, as this page explains:

(click this text)

Phone apps don't always show signatures, so you may need to switch to a real browser in desktop mode on your phone, or just use a desktop/laptop computer. Put your location (nearest city) in your profile & upload an avatar of the truck. The more pics you post of the truck, engine, wiring, labels, & undercarriage, the more likely we can help you. Not all its details are relevant to these issues, but you don't necessarily know which ones are relevant, so just put everything in now.

Probably the Mazda M50D tranny, had 1 in my 89 Ranger. Your problem could be clutch related also, I put 172K miles on mine before a spring broke on the clutch disc. Good Luck

I would hope it's not the clutch. Replaced the clutch and slave cylinder and everything that goes with it 6 months before this.
