Default Strange issues

I have a 93 f150 5.0 auto 4x4. E4od trans. When I got done replacing the rear end I was test driving it. It shifted extremely hard. Almost felt like I got rear-ended. As I turned around to go back home the exhaust fell off. After that it shifted fine. Can anyone explain why? Checked trans fluid before test drive it was good level and color. Didn't have a burnt smell either. Truck had no cats previous owner removed them. I have never seen anything like this happen before. I haven't had time to put exhaust back up to see if it goes back to hard shifting

The AODE is a car transmission; the truck version is the 4R70W, but it wasn't available until '94. All the truck's (accurate) details need to be in your signature as this page explains:

Rust? Abuse? Hackery?

I know why the exhaust fell off. I was trying to get an idea of why it made a difference in the trans shifting. But i figured it out yesterday. It was just a coincidence. After doing some checks I found the cooler was clogged. After flushing it out and rechecking fluid level it still shifts hard. So pretty sure it will need a transmission.
I checked the door sticker and it has the e4od transmission. I edited my original post where I put it was an aode and changed it to e4od.

I updated my signature but it still didn't post correctly. As of last night the truck is no longer my problem. Thank you for your time.
