Default Shifter Removal Help

Hello,

I am trying to remove the floor shifter on my 1990 Ford F-150 2WD. When I switch the nut to the opposite side, I screw it down all the way and the bolt won't budge, it won't even spin a little. Should I try applying WD40 or something like that? Any tips?

Thanks!

Penetrant is not likely to help. Use a mirror to look into the side of the shifter base at the shape of the lock bolt's wedge body. If you can't see the flat, that's the REMOVE side.

How tight have you cranked on the nut? It takes some torque.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. From a couple videos I've seen it came off pretty easily so I was hesitant to torque too hard but I will try to add more force.
