Was trying to fix another issue with the truck not starting replaced solonoid on firewall and still no go. Well I did research and found out if you have a sloppy shifter, if tightened up that may be the issue. So I went under the steering column looking for these torx screws on shifting rod. Mind you my truck is a 1987 Ford f150 4x4. I didn't see any but 2 located near the gears by shifting arm. So I checked them gave them a little tighten. Well now it will only move to reverse. It's like its locked up or something. Need some help on fixing this please.

After further investigation I found out why truck wouldn't start this pic showd ignition rod not going all the way down.




Still can't figure out why gear won't shift. Here's another pic of the only alen torx I messed with till it stopped moving out of gear.

 

Got shifting working. Was jammed between gears. Maybe I'll just buy a steering column
