I'm posting for my friend, we were driving around in his 1995 f150 with the 5.8L and all of a sudden his truck starting bucking a little, the rpm fluctuates and doesn't go over 1200 with the pedal all the way down. It doesn't do it in any other gear. When the rpm drops it makes banging noise that feels like a hard shift. Prior to this we were messing with his 4x4 because it got stuck in 4Low, so we removed the electric shifter and manually put in 2wd. We didn't get a chance to check codes because he had errands to do, not completely sure how to check them on an obd1 f150. My friends old jeep had a series of blinks to tell you the problem so I'm guessing it's similar.
