Default Pulling issue

Today I was trying to get my buddies 95 Sierra out of the mud with my 4.9 300ci 5spd (2wd). And we were all hooked up and I slowly released the clutch while I was slowly revving up for a nice easy pull but as I was on the gas my wheels weren't spinning? And then something starting smoking and it wasnt my engine.. What happened?

X2 on the clutch. Gears don`t slip ,they grind and jump. Your truck will drive fine with no load, but pull any thing out hard like that and I bet it slips again.

That clutch is nice and toasted now. It'll probably start slipping and need to be replaced within 6 months depending on how rough you are on it.

Thanks guys I hope it's not a clutch repair but that'll teach me, I stopped as soon as I smelt it. Thought they were pulling trucks? :p

You can pull with these trucks when you got a good clutch. Yours is just old. They don`t last forever. A average Joe can do a clutch job.

I actually had the chance to change the clutch when I replaced my slave. But I never did, thought I could've kept it on there forever. Damn. Oh well, we'll see how she runs tomo. Thanks guys
