Default Pull Motor

1987 F150 w/ 302, C-6, 2 wheel drive. So, with a rotted out oil pan & a leaky rear main, I figure it's a good time to pull the motor, change the pan, gasket, new oil pump, rear main & overall degrease & clean-up, as well as clean up the engine compartment. The last time I pulled a motor, was 20 years ago on a '72 Chevelle, when I was much younger & in much better shape. So, what can I look forward to, what's all involved? I'm thinking I'm gonna have to remove the hood, radiator, rusty exhaust manifold bolts, drop the trans, anything else? I'm a little gun shy here, like I said, it's been a long time since I did anything like this, & at 59 yrs. old, had back surgery & just had a replacement knee, I know it's going to be a little bit of a challenge. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Nothing out of the ordinary...Bolts n' beer, man. The only thing that can be confusing is all of the harness connections. Grab some masking tape and a sharpie and label the connections before you pull it all apart to make it easy when it's time to put it all back together. I usually do a hardcore degrease/pressure wash before I pull it all out to keep things a little less nasty. Take some pictures of the vacuum lines before so you don't have any surprises...

Nothing to it but to do it!

Thanks Sam, that's really nice of you! I'm in Elk Grove Village, IL., & I rarely use the truck, as I'm in a company work truck all the time that I take home with me. We've been so swamped at work, puttin' in lots of hours every week, but one of these days, maybe after the holidays, I'll start the project. After working 10 hours or better, outside every day, when I get home, the boots come off & I hit the couch! Thanks again for your offer, & hope you & your family have a nice Christmas!
