Default neutral safety switch

I replaced my neutral safety switch to try to fix my backup lights on my 93 f150 xlt with the 5.0 and e4od trans. Now the truck labors to move forward as if the rear end is locked up or its not all the way in gear. Reverse works fine and in neutral with truck off it moves freely. Any thoughts?

I think they call the safety switch a MLPS now. Try using the search function and see if it's already been covered in one of the previous threads.

There's a benchmark on the shift linkage coming off the transmission that has to line up with the mark on the MLPS when it's in neutral.

Any chance that was overlooked when you installed the new safety switch ?

Maybe someone more knowlegable could jump in ?

Otherwise ... i would search through all of the existing threads to see if it's been covered already.

The problem started when you changed out the MLPS. Most likely the problem revolves around that in some way or another. Noodle it through and try to figure out what went wrong along the way.

Wish i could offer more but i'm not that experienced.

sorry to renew old thread, but I am going to replace my MLPS in my 94 F150 5.0 with the e4od. my question is, according to my chilton manual, it says to adjust the MLPS with a gear position sensor adjuster tool. Is this tool necessary?
thanks
