Pretty sure I blew out my transmission this weekend (70 mph loud pop no gears after stopping to check it out ). Went in to order a reman and there are different configurations for the speedo cable (8 tooth, no speedo, and 7 tooth -in order from cost lowest to highest).

My question is, since i don't need to hook the speedo to the tranny, is there a problem with ordering the cheaper tranny and either plugging the speedo hole or swapping the tail housing to avoid the hole issue all together?

Well I figured it out for myself. Ordered the less expensive tranny and popped a freeze plug in the speedo hole and everything came out fine. Hopefully no one else will have this issue but in case they do at least the answer can be found.
