Default hole on the bottom of tranny casing on a 95'

hey guys, i was just under my truck checking things out and noticed this opening on the bottom of the tranny, looks kinda exposed imo, is it supposed to be like that or is there a plug missing that i should replace?

truck is a 1995 f150 with a 5.0 auto tranns

Its an inspection hole, there is supposed to be a metal or a rubber plug in there to keep stuff from getting caught in the flex plate so I would look to finding one.

Also looks like you have quite the rear main seal leak there or a bad gasket.

cool, thanks for the help. the part # for it is 7N171.

and eh its a high mileage truck, such issues are to be expected

That hole is there for the torque converter drain plug. Yep, a plug is needed.
