Hitting rev limiter

Hitting rev limiter
I have a stock 1996 F150 5.0, Automatic with 240,000 miles. The truck runs great except for one issue. If I quickly floor the throttle from low speed the engine hits the rev limiter before the 1-2 shift and the transmission doesn't shift until I let up on the accelerator slightly. If I roll into the throttle over a couple of seconds everything works as it should. This problem is not new I just don't get on the throttle like that often. Any suggestions on what the cause might be.

If I lift the accelerator pedal just a little or take a couple of seconds to push it to the floor, the transmission has a good solid 1-2 shift. No codes for the transmission. Temperatures and pressures look normal.
I am going to hook up my computer and save some logs. I was hoping someone cold point me to which parameters would be most useful besides the obvious RPM and MPH.
Thank you,

Ford built about 20 different "stock" F150s in '96.
