Default Help with Transmission!

Hey Guys,

So I was looking under my truck lastnight, its a 1992 F150 Flareside w/ the 5.8l V8 and Auto Trans, and I noticed a giant gaping hole in the bottom of the transmission.

Ill include some pictures with the post so ya'll know what I'm talking about. Im pretty sure its an E40D transmission because it has a sticker on the door that says trans type E. I also took some pics to show whats inside.

1. Is this a problem?
2. If it is a problem what should I do?
3. Is there normally fluid in this space?
4. Help me out please!

That hole is supposed to be there. It's an inspection hole, and you can access the drain plug for the torque converter through it. There's usually a rubber cover that goes on it but they get brittle and fall off over the years. Nothing to be worried about.

Default Thank you!

I went to a tranny specialist and he said it's all good too.
