You need to have the engine running when you check the fluid level. If you check it without the engine running the level will show a lot higher than it really is. Low fluid level may be your problem.

The fluid will expand some as it gets to normal operating temperature. If you check it cold just fill to about the ADD or LOW line.

But you must have the engine running when you check the fluid level. And have the truck on a fairly level spot if possible.
