Gear Noise?
Truck pedigree: 94 F150 4.9L 5 speed mr2 Mazda trans BW transfer case 8.8 rear Dana 44 front 355 gears manual hubs
My pedigree: grew up in shop, went to wyotech, 5 years Chrysler 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins and 3.0 Mercedes certified, independent for 2 years now. BUT I DONT KNOW MANUAL TRANS OR DIFFERENTIALS ENOUGH
No noise in first gear none in second gear. Even if I rap it out hard core. Noise starts as soon as I shift into third. A whine like rear gears. Changed all drivetrain fluids and noise persists. My only thought is maybe I let transmission fluid get to low? And it effed up the gears in some way? My mechanic buddy said he could hear it as I passed his shop a few days ago.
When I changed the rear diff fluid the gears looked fine. Spiders were a little worn but going straight on the highway wouldn't matter with them. I'm worried I need to do some transmission work.
