95 model xlt, rear tank pump went out a week ago, front tank pump has been out a while now, replaced the rear tank pump and now runs out of fuel below 1/4 tank mark, pump came from advanced auto, replaced just the pump, kept my fuel level sending unit, ive had the pump out multiple times after truck quitting from no fuel with 2-3 inches still in the tank, any idea's that i might be over looking?????? Im about ready to burn it to the ground

 

does the pump have a sock strainer on the end to pick up fuel?

 

Yes it does

 

sounds like a defective pump from advance auto. really no other explanation why it wont pick up fuel when it gets so low. advance is not known for quality fuel pumps.
