Default Fuel pump Question

I'm replacing fuel pump in rear tank.

Are the wire "splice" connectors supposed to just hang in the gasoline?

PO replaced fuel pump at some point and the wires are spliced (with connectors) ,and hang in the fuel when installed.

Just seems them being submerged would cause problems.?

Thanks

Gasoline is not electrically conductive, or corrosive. It's a petrochemical, so like motor oil, it's actually a lubricant. It flows through the motor, where it comes in contact with even more electrically-charged components. And look at both ends of the wires - they're bare conductors exposed to gas again, even from the factory. So is the level sender.

No, it doesn't hurt anything.
