Default erratic shifting

I have an early 95 F150 4x4 with the off road package, 351w, and aod tranny, the shifting is erratic most of the time it shifts great, but now and then doesn't want to shift into the next gaer and when it does, it hammers in very hard, also the cruise won't work when the shifting is acting up.

Your transmission is called an E4OD, not aod. The E means the shifts are electronic or computer controlled. Do you ever notice the check engine light come on, even briefly?

You should put ALL the truck's details & history (as much as you know) into your signature so it shows with each post, as this page explains:

Phone apps don't always show signatures, so you may need to switch to a real browser in desktop mode on your phone, or just use a desktop/laptop computer. Put your location in your profile & upload an avatar of the truck.

There is no "off road package". 4WD trucks are just 4WD. Stickers on them are just stickers, and NOT all stickers are original.

Read this page, but do NOT remove, replace, buy, or even disturb any parts unless they fail a published test, or they're due on the maintenance schedule.
