Im swapping a 351 in place of a 300 4 speed. The question I have can I use the pcm from the 351 truck in my truck even though it was from an auto trans truck?

Yes, the 5.8L EEC will run that engine perfectly without the transmission. It will set fault codes for the missing trans, but they won't turn on the CEL. Any OTHER fault codes indicate real problems.

I'm swapping a 351 in place of a 300. The truck is a 88 manual and the parts truck is a 1990 (351) automatic. The question is the wiring harnesses in the engine compartment look very different. Will the harnesses from the parts truck plug and play in the 88 truck with no problems or I'm in for a real nightmare? Any and all help will be much appreciated.

 

What exactly looks different? Post pics. You should keep the engine & engine compartment harness sections with the engine they match.

 

I will keep the harness with the engine but the but the harness that goes to the ecu was a separate harness from the big round plug harness. On the parts truck its one harness that splits off, one to the ecu the other one to the round plug harness. The wire colors are not the same in the round harness. If i'm thinking too much and making this harder than it is please let me know. I will try to get pictures.
