Default Engine swap

I have a 94 f150 with a 5.0 e4od MAF with 250,000 miles. I also have a 94 f150 with a 5.8 e40d with 145,000 , I don't think it's a Mass air motor. I want to swap the 5.8 motor and transmission into the f150 with the 5.0. My question is this do i need to switch the 5.8 to MAF , which pcm do I use and do i need to switch harnesses? I'm new to this forum. As a matter of fact I have never been a member of any forum. So I hope I'm doing this correctly lol. Any info appreciated.

As long as you're 100% sure the 5.0 is e40d not 4r70w it would be a straight swap. The 5.0 5.8 can be controlled by map or maf as its external. They both use 19lb injectors so the maf from a 5.0 would compensate for a 5.8.

Drivers door label, under trans I believe u for 4r70w and e for e4od. The maf vs map system is not a problem but trans control matchup is.

Thank you sdmartin65 they are both in fact e code. That is so awesome the transmission on the 5.8 is a jasper rebuild with just over 47,000 miles.

Maybe I should have started a new thread?
I am now starting the swap I was asking about in this thread and found that the 5.8 dosen't have a knock sensor and my old 5.0 did since I'm using the 5.0 harness will that be a problem?

I had this same issue on a 5.0 to a 5.0 Explorer swap. I epoxied on a couple nuts at the original location of the knock sensor on the new motor. Screwed the sensor in the nuts and it has worked fine. I could have taken the new 5.0 to the machine shop to be drilled and tapped but didn't. It's an important part I think you'd want.

Best to keep all your swap questions in this original thread. Spreading them out won't help you or us.

No, the KS never worked from the factory - too sensitive. And the EEC can't test it, so it can't detect if it's unplugged, defective, or working perfectly; so it won't set a code for it, except during KOEO testing. But the 5.8L never had one anyway, so if you use a 5.8L EEC, it wouldn't be looking for a KS under any circumstances.
