Engine choice
I have a 91 f150 with a 6 cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. I need to replace the motor and was wondering if a 302 would fit with the transmission. It's a good 4wd but engine is going out and it needs more power. 4 low worked great but 4 high just didn't the have the power it needed. I'm not looking for great speed but better pull for off road use.
A good running 6 will pull harder at low rpm than a 302. It's got the low end torque that the 8 doesn't produce till it's revved up.
But the transmission will bolt up to a 300, 302, or 351.
Just lots of other things to change over - mounts, exhaust, fuel lines, wiring harnesses, computer, rad, hoses, fan, shroud, the list gets pretty long.
Only practical way is to buy a truck that has all the parts on it.

Could just be tired, it is kind of old. A fresh 6 will pull down a house. Ok, minor exaggeration, but if top end acceleration isn't your first concern the 300 is a really good motor.
I'm not worried about much other than being able to do speed limit on the interstate. I've worked on motorcycles most of my life and owned a few. The only problem with them is weather and carrying my hunting equipment. Lol
