I have a 96 4.9. With the E4OD transmission. It was fully rebuilt about 7000 miles ago. Lately when the truck is cold, it has been intermittently not downshifting into first gear, grinding and actually stalling. This only occurs as I go the 2 blocks to the first stop sign. After that at a stoplight one block away, it's fine. Not sure if it is a sensor, or something else. It upshifts fine during this. Any suggestions? The truck has 142,000 miles on it. Thanks.

 

Take it back to the rebuilder, and ask him what he thinks.
