I have a 95 4x4 with the auto. Its my sons. He toasted the motor and the tranny was weak, so I opted to buy a donor truck, a 92 2wd with a 302 and 5 speed. I have finished installing all components and he has been driving it now for a few days. To answer your question I did not change out any computer. I did find many things odd though.
The 94 and 95 have a different firing order than the pre 94. There are 4 different crossmembers. the 5 speed is a little longer than the auto so the mount is set back on the m5od requiring a different crossmember. The 4 wd is set lower using a different crossmember. I just added a plate to the mount and used the 4wd auto crossmember for the 5speed. Used the shift cover and cut the auto floorboard, u cant even tell it was an auto. The 92 dash fits the 94 both physically and electrical plug but are wired different. Ended up having to use the 94 which I don't like because of the PRNDS indicator in the dash, will fix later. I used the auto's neutral safty till I can figure out how to make the manuals work with the wiring. I have all the parts left over. Did you fix ours? Do u need anything I might have extra? Did yours work? what have you done?

also had to shorten rear 4wd driveshaft to compensate for the longer 5speed, the 4wd trans vs 2wd. The 4 wd has a shorter but larger diam output shaft. I did change that as well, starters are different as well. I think the distance to ring gear is closer on the stick causing the auto starter to be engaged, had to use the stick starter. Other than that it went together beautiful and is working. Son was in tears as he said it is now fun to drive and has so much more power.
