Default Driveshaft help

I have a 1990 F150 with a M5OD R2 transmission 2wd. 5.0 engine. I just swapped it out for a new transmission, another M5od R2. The driveshaft goes about half way in and doesn’t go any further. It actually seems as if it has bottomed out. I tried wiggling it it wont go any farther in. The driveshaft turns on without binding up. It really just seems like it is fully bottomed out. Any suggestions?

I would guess the splines on your replacement transmission are slightly buggered up. Maybe you need to take a small file of some sort and smooth them up. Be careful not to mess up the seal of bushing in the transmission. Maybe call the place where you got the transmission before you try this.

Maybe try to shine with a flashlight to see if you can see where it may be buggered up.

Taking the tail end off might be your best option. Then you can make sure it is squared away before reinstalling the tail end. Your #3 posted while I was typing my #4.
