Default Comp cams in a 4.9L timing issue

I installed a comp cam in my 1991 f150 4,9 I put it at 10 degrees TDC and checked my firing order my cap and wires the plugs are brand new and so are the wires idles at 1500 Rpms and the check engine light flashes like the computer is trying to compensate while I'm driving it I'm thinking I need to get the Rpms lower so the computer doesn't freak out. When I shut it off the engine cranks really slow when I try to restart it I thought it was the starter so I took that in and got it tested it was fine. Like bout a yellow top optima battery and that's not the problem. But if I unplug the coil wire it turns over normal. Makes me think it's timing issue. Do I turn it closer to TDC or away what degree do I set it at. Maybe I'll just go back to the stock cam
Any ideas or help would be appreciates
