I just bought a '93 F150 XL, 4x4, with a 5.0/AOD. The truck has high mileage (240K) and I don't have any maintenance history, so I don't know if the trans is original. I changed the fluid/filter and it didn't look bad at all with regards to clutch material in the pan. The trans shifts great in all gears (no slipping), except reverse. Whenever I put the trans selector in reverse the trans feels like it engages reverse, however, as soon as I give it gas, the trans feels like it is only partially in gear and not fully engaged. The gear selector doesn't have any slop in it and was acting like this before I changed the fluid. I also changed the transfer case fluid out with new Mercon. I've had AODs in the past that went bad, but nothing like this before. Any ideas?
