I have a 91 with a 4.9L. The Haynes Repair Manual says the coolant system holds 14 quarts, but I was only able to get 8 quarts in. Can anybody help?

Did you only drain the radiator or did you take the lower hose off?

Just flush the block out with water. Coolant is supposed to be mixed 50-50 with water anyway.
